Dracaena Surculosa - Gold Dust Dracaena
With dark green glossy leaves and lighter yellow splotches, it's easy to see where the common gold dust name comes from. The Dracaena family has roughly 40 different types and are known as rugged, low maintenance house plants.
Size: Nursery pot width 16.5cm height 60cm
Light: Classed as a medium light plant, this plant would naturally be found on the forest floor getting dappled sunlight not direct sun. Due to the different colouration on the leaves indirect bright light will ensure the colours are maintained.
Water: Allow top layer of soil to dry out before watering. Always allow for adequate drainage to ensure the plants roots stay rot free. As with most plants reduce water in the colder winter months as the plant may experience a dormant period.
Temperature: Preferring to be kept on the warmer side due to its native climate avoid draughts and fluctuations. Average room temperature is fine with slightly cooler temperatures in the winter.
Humidity: As would be expected given the natural environment this plant is found in, humidity is a major factor. Consider adding a pebble tray, humidifier or group humidity loving plants together.
Feed: A dilute multi-purpose feed can be given monthly during the spring and summer growing months. Do not feed during the winter
Care tips: Keep leaves dust free with a soft damp cloth. May grow to appear leggy, this plant is easily pruned to keep the growth looking bushy and healthy.
This plant is classed as toxic to pets.
Height& Growth rate: Slow growers than can take up to 10 years to reach a height of 5ft.
