The Aluminium Plant
The Aluminium plant is an easy-going house plant that is generally simple to please.. So long as it plant gets the water and sunlight it wants it will continue to be a stunning addition to your indoor garden for years to come.
Size: Height 18 cm Pot size 8cm
Light: Bright indirect light is key with this plant; the lighter areas of the leaf will be more sensitive to direct sunlight so avoid placing anywhere this may be an issue.
Water: The Aluminium plant needs to be watered differently during different times of the year. During spring and summer, the top quarter inch of the soil should be kept moist. During fall and winter, allow the top quarter inch of soil to dry out before watering again. Do not permit water to stand in the saucer underneath the plant.
Temperature: Not tolerant of the cold, an even room temperature avoiding draughts and intermittent heat sources.
Humidity: No additional requirements unless you live in an especially dry house.
Feed: Fertilise the aluminium plant once a month during the growing season, use a suitable houseplant feed, diluted to half strength. Never fertilise a dry plant as it may burn the roots.
Care Tips: There is mixed information about the toxicity of this plant, err on the side of caution and keep away from pets and small children.
Height & Growth rate: Not particularly fast growing, can reach a height of up to 2ft.
